Victor Troubalos Scholarship Endowment

As a member of the STATE Program you are eligible to apply for the Victor Troubalos Scholarship. The scholarship is intended to help students who persist at MSU in spite of learning difficulties. The scholarship award size is dependent on endowment performance, but is anticipated to exceed $1000.
One recipient will be selected from those who choose to apply for the award each semester after grades are released for the semester in which the student participated in STATE. The selected recipient will be chosen using the following criterion:
• Full program engagement: Student engaged effectively with each program component (tutoring, mentoring, seminar, specialist meetings)
• Academic Improvement: Must demonstrate improved GPA in the semester in which the recipient is enrolled in the STATE program. The student must not be on academic probation.
• Completion of Group Lesson: Each STATE participant will be assigned to a team during the second week of the seminar. Each team will present on a study skills topic identified by the class as something members want to learn. The presentation should be up to 20 minutes and provide the audience with strategies or tools they may use related to the topic. Each team member should contribute to the final presentation in some form. The final presentation should be informative and may include instruction, multimedia, handouts, or any tools that will help safely convey the lesson.
• Completion of Group Project Assignment: Each team will create a group project to document their learning and participation throughout the semester in the STATE program. Students will share their learning, using the project as a tool to tell their team story. The project should clearly demonstrate what each team member gained from the program and how the STATE program enhanced each participants’ learning strategies.
